Un superbo cast si "mette in riga", pronto all'assalto, nella brillante saga di Stanley Kubrick sulla guerra del Vietnam e sul processo disumanizzante che trasforma uomini qualunque in rodati assassini. Joker (Matthew Modine), Animal (Adam Baldwin), Palla di Lardo (Vincent D'Onofrio), Eightball (Dorian Harewood), Cowboy (Arliss Howard) ed altri ancora vengono precipitati nell'inferno di un campo di addestramento, ferocemente dominato da uno spietato istruttore (Lee Ermey), che considera i pretesi eroi degli smidollati, dei vermi o qualcosa di meno. L'azione è selvaggia, la storia generosa, il dialogo affilato da uno humour caustico.
