Il 21 agosto 2015, il mondo ha assistito stupefatto alla notizia di un tentato attacco terroristico sul treno Thalys n. 9364 diretto a Parigi, sventato da tre coraggiosi giovani americani in viaggio attraverso l’Europa, che nel film interpretano proprio loro stessi.
Dall’infanzia alla serie di sfortunati eventi che hanno preceduto l’attacco, il regista Clint Eastwood ripercorre le vite di questi tre uomini, la cui amicizia è diventata l’arma più potente durante questa esperienza che li ha messi a dura prova, e il cui coraggio ha consentito di salvare le vite di oltre 500 passeggeri.
