Prevalentemente composto ed inciso in una serie di studio session durate due settimane, è il frutto di una serie di composizioni scritte dopo un tour americano del 2019 e la fine di una tumultuosa relazione durata sei anni. Tutto ciò è coinciso con il ritorno di Polly a Londra e l'inizio di una nuova vita.L'album inizia con la sensazione di essere arrivata sull'orlo di un precipizio ed apprestarsi ad un totale cambiamento, ha dichiarato Polly. Prima di decidere di mettere da parte ogni cosa e passare oltre, i testi sono autobiografici ed il tema principale è il dualismo tra luce ed oscurità, leggerezza e pesantezza.
