In un mattino d’autunno il volo 227 parte da Orlando, al comando di Whip Whitaker, per quello che dovrebbe essere un volo di routine. L’aereo però s’imbatte in una forte tempesta, che lo fa precipitare a spirale verso il basso. Il comandante decide che l’unica possibilità che ha, è di compiere una difficile seppur pericolosa manovra. Con un colpo incredibile e ingegnoso, riesce ad atterrare e a salvare i passeggeri.
