Londra,primi anni 60 del XX secolo. Sir Oliver Ramsey, ricco possidente appassionato di volo, muore in un incidente. Durante la veglia funebre, una cupa risata risuona dalla bara. Cecil, cugino del defunto,ritiene che Ramsey sia vivo.
