Un vecchio impazzito si convince di essere Don Chisciotte e scambia il giovane regista Toby per il suo fedele scudiero Sancho Panza. I due si imbarcano quindi in un viaggio bizzarro e allucinato, sospeso tra i giorni nostri e un magico XVI secolo. Tuttavia, come già accaduto al vecchio, anche Toby inizia a venire gradualmente consumato dalle illusioni che si crea, rischiando di non saper più distinguere i sogni dalla realtà.
