Rose é la madre di Sharon che ripetutamente pronuncia il nome della città fantasma "Silent Hill". Allarmata per i segni di squilibrio della figlia, Rose sottopone Sharon a cure psichiatriche che non sembrano dare alcun beneficio. Decisa a venire a capo del mistero, la madre della ragazza conduce Sharon nelle cittadina. Poco dopo il loro arrivo, le due hanno un incidente di macchina in cui Rose perde conoscenza.
