Originariamente pubblicato su vinile nel 1979, lalbum Ballads For Two nasce dallincontro tra il vibrafonista Wolfgang Lackerschmid e il leggendario trombettista Chet Baker. Registrato l'8 e il 9 gennaio 1979 a Stoccarda, in Germania, questo album, da tempo fuori catalogo, presenta una miscela di brani originali di Wolfgang e riletture di noti standard. La tromba di Baker è come sempre emotiva e linterplay con Lackerschmid è impeccabile. Come osservato dalla recensione originale del magazine Downbeat: Ballads For Two arriva come un regalo inaspettato, sfidando i detrattori di Baker e mettendolo con successo in un contesto inusuale.
