Dopo lo strepitoso successo del doppio album del 2013 Opposites, i Biffy Clyro tornano con il loro attesissimo settimo album in studio dal titolo Ellipsis l8 luglio su etichetta Warner Bros. Records / 14th Floor Recordings.Come da tradizione, la fase di scrittura ha visto i Biffy Clyro Simon Neil (voce/chitarra) e i fratelli Johnston, James (basso) e Ben (batteria) lavorare nellintimità della propria sala prove. Terminata la composizione, la band si è trasferita a Los Angeles per registrare con il produttore Rich Costey (Muse, My Chemical Romance, Sigur Ros). Citando diverse influenze come lalbum Songs From The Big Chair dei Tears For Fears, DJ Arca ed i Deafheaven, Simon Neil ha descritto Ellipsis più come un pugno sul naso che un grande abbraccio.
