Wolfgang Haffner, uno dei batteristi jazz europei piu rinomati e apprezzati a livello internazionale, presenta il suo nuovo lavoro per letichetta tedesca ACT intitolato Heart of the Matter. Questo album e la continuazione ideale dei precedenti dischi registrati da Haffner per la ACT (Shapes, Acoustic Shapes e Round Silence) e conferma la sua incessante evoluzione non solo come strumentista, ma anche come compositore e arrangiatore. Al suo fianco Haffner ha voluto alcuni vecchi compagni di viaggio come il trombettista Sebastian Studnitzky, il tastierista Eythor Gunnarsson, il chitarrista Dominic Miller e il bassista Nicolas Fiszman, a cui si sono affiancati diversi ospiti (Bruno Muller, Thomas Quasthoff, Till Bronner, Gotz Alsmann, Magnus Lindgren, Chuck Loeb, Celine Ruhdolph, Shovel).
