CresciutI a Cincinnati (OH) e diventati protagonisti della Motown negli anni Sessanta, The Isley Brothers (Ronald, Rudolph e O 'Kelly) hanno iniziato a cantare insieme prima che fossero abbastanza grandi per andare a scuola. Lo stile del gruppo era variegato e accattivante. Miscelando soul classico, intenso R & B e gioioso rock&roll, hanno conquistato laffetto del pubblico e influenzato band come i Rolling Stones e The O 'Jays.
