Il pioniere blues maliano Ali Farka Touré è uno dei più importanti artisti della music africana. Il suo esteso catalogo comprende album da solista e quelli con la collaborazione dei musicisti Ry Cooder e Toumani Diabeté, che gli ha permesso di vincere 3 Grammy. SAVANE è il suo ultimo album da solista, è stato registrato in Bamako nel 2004 e pubblicato nel 2006 dalla World Circuit, pochi mesi dopo la morte del musicista, ottenendo un grande successo. SAVANE include le collaborazioni di musicisti blues non africani come Little George Sueref, Pee Wee Ellis e il suo protetto Afel Bocoum. Il disco viene reso disponibile per la prima volta in vinile e con laudio completamente rimasterizzato dai nastri originali.
