Shauf aveva programmato di fare un giro per The Neon Skyline ma, come molti di noi nei primi giorni della pandemia, ha invece trascorso molto tempo da solo. Si e rinchiuso nel suo studio in garage, autoproducendosi e suonando ogni strumento su Norm, una raccolta di canzoni piu convenzionali scritte prevalentemente con chitarra, piano e synth. Durante questo periodo, e stato affascinato da Mulholland Drive di David Lynch, che sembrava convalidare l\'istinto di Shauf di mescolare prospettive e armeggiare con narrazioni oscure.
