Pubblicato originariamente il 24 ottobre 1995, l\'album ha debuttato al primo posto della classifica Billboard 200 ed e stato certificato 9 volte platino dalla RIAA. L\'album produce successi importanti come "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", l\'improbabile prima hit da Top 40 della band, la squisita "1979" e l\'epica "Tonight, Tonight", oltre a una serie di video assolutamente ispirati. Prodotto da Billy Corgan, Flood e Alan Moulder, l\'album si guadagno anche un Grammy Award (1996 Best Hard Rock Performance per "Bullet with Butterfly Wings") e sette nomination. Al di la dei successi piu ovvi, pero, Mellon Collie e un ciclo di canzoni di insolita profondita e di notevole portata. E una raccolta di momenti straordinariamente belli in cui tutto si e allineato, un momento nel tempo che e ancora qui per essere conservato.
